can you check if this happens with simple scan 3.3.92 ? that version
fixes a bug that often happened when saving a pdf (even so the bug was
not directly in the pdf saving code) -- maybe this is fixed.

Simple Scan crashes for me after the second time.
This crash can be reproduced 100% of the times.
