Public bug reported: The current shutdown prompt solves this use case problem: 1. A user accidentally clicks the Shut Down button in the system menu and needs a way to cancel shutdown.
It would be nice if it solved this problem too: 2. A user clicks Shut Down and expects the computer to do just that without further input. A user report of that scenario can be found at https://lists.launchpad.net/unity-design/msg08248.html GNOME Shell has a very nice feature where after selecting Power Off in the user menu, the confirm dialog starts a 60-second countdown which fixes the problem. http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-shell/tree/js/ui/endSessionDialog.js ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: indicator-session 0.3.92-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-17.27-generic 3.2.6 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-17-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 1.93-0ubuntu2 Architecture: amd64 CheckboxSubmission: 201084ed41ea7548f8becd47fa4d1e6c CheckboxSystem: c541d13ea4f205f2fd751f76ed21105b Date: Sun Feb 26 19:38:17 2012 SourcePackage: indicator-session UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ayatana-design Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: indicator-session Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: indicator-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/941697 Title: Add "power off automatically after 60 seconds" countdown to shutdown confirm prompt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/941697/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
