Plugged in USB. 6 minutes later, USB still not being recognized by lubuntu 12.04. Indicator light is still out, sudo lsusb doesn't show it. Is there any way to ask pangolin to check USB ports? sudo lsusb doesn't do it. pcmanfm open and close doesn't do it. dmesg | tail -30 still the same as in previous comment. 12 minutes later, nothing. [Bug 952617] Re: Lubuntu 12.04 unable to mount USB keys
After about a half hour of general computer stuff and Firefox, Lubuntu finally woke up and saw the USB stick properly. Indicator light is on O.K. Still don't see any icon on the desktop. My guess, there's nothing in the 12.04 Lubuntu boot up scripts to look at the USB port. Finally after quite some time, Lubuntu does look for the USB port. init.d or some such problem? I don't know the scripts at all. Any info I can post?? The output of sudo lsusb before the USB drive is inserted, and also shortly after inserting it, might be useful. Also the output of sudo dmesg |tail -30 after inserting the drive. My thinking here is to see if we can find out whether Lubuntu is seeing the drive and asking pcmanfm to do its thing, or seeing it but not doing anything to mount it, or whether it simply never sees it at all. If you are comfortable with this stuff, and lsusb does show the device being seen, you could also try manually mounting the filesystem on the device and reported whether or not that is successful.
