[Bug 95318] Re: F-spot stuck in infinite loop
Just experienced a portion of this bug on a fresly installed 8.04 machine. F-spot had not been started yet. When I started f-spot from the menu, nothing happened. When I started f-spot from a terminal, I got the messages mentioned above, but only a couple of times before f-spot seemed to 'give up' and return the prompt. So no infinite loop here. Deleting the ~/.gnome2/f-spot directory solved the problem. As Dennis Krul already wrote on bug 140006, a novice user would not be able to fix this easily. Too bad it's showing up again in an LTS release... -- F-spot stuck in infinite loop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 95318] Re: F-spot stuck in infinite loop
Running Ubuntu 7.10 [Gutsy] with all updates as of today. I have the same problem of infinite loop in f-spot immediately after launching before it comes up with a graphical window. Launching from a terminal instead of from the menu, I get an infinite loop of error messages saying it is unable to connect to dbus, as shown in earlier comments above. That happens when I am logged in as a non-administrative user. When I login as the user with administrative permissions (that is, the user able to execute commands with sudo), f-spot launches quickly without error messages. This seems to be a permissions problem. -- F-spot stuck in infinite loop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 95318] Re: F-spot stuck in infinite loop
I just started having the same problem too. Specifying a base-dir, or installing sqlite does not solve it. Old versions of the database work fine. The latest version is giving this infinite loop. For some reason, on my laptop, it was not offering me to use dbus-launch f-spot but on my desktop, it suggested that. Using f-spot like that works fine, however, I had to make a change and save the database. I am using the latest svn version and I was silly enough not to save the error I had which I can't regenerate again. -- F-spot stuck in infinite loop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 95318] Re: F-spot stuck in infinite loop
I had a similar problem - the error message actually said that the file was encrypted or not a valid database before it went into the infinite loop. Removing the .db file fixed the problem, but I needed the data in it, so I restored the db file and tried installing sqlite (which also installed libsqlite.so.0.8.6) - after that f-spot read the database and started fine. This was done on a clean install of feisty 7.04 with all the current updates applied - but it seems that the default install only includes libsqlite3.so (not libsqlite.so). The db file was created on an (up to date) Edgy which did have libsqlite.so installed. In both cases f-spot was version 0.3.5.0 . -- F-spot stuck in infinite loop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Gerard I'm afraid you're having a different issue then i was, and it doesn't seem related to the missing tags table as the other bug mentioned, you could try renaming the database file to see if f-spot can make a new file, if that works, you might have to dump your old table to text import the text file into a new database file. -- F-spot stuck in infinite loop https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 95318] Re: F-spot stuck in infinite loop
The machine is running Feisty Fawn beta, and is up to date. The f-spot database comes from a previous edgy install (/ and /home are 2 seperate partitions). I'm not sure how i can provide you with more info, since the application doesn't crash (so no coredump), it just can't connect to d-bus -- F-spot stuck in infinite loop https://launchpad.net/bugs/95318 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
