I'm marking this as fixed as it's fixed in a released Ubuntu (13.10), and the remaining thing would be to port needed patches to older Ubuntus. According to Kevin's test it may be that more patches would need to be backported than the one specified. I'd recommend 13.04 users to upgrade to 13.10.
