I seem to have fixed it for myself--I have an nvidia 8600M GT, with two
monitors. I *think* what I did was install the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-295.53.run
driver, but it might have been the devdriver_4.2_linux_32_295.41.run one.
I'm pretty sure I'm not using Noveau or anything downloaded through the

Same here. I'm using a NVIDIA 7600GT and tried several driver-versions.
Blur does not work at all. Besides I have problems with a black screen after
resume from suspend or hibernation - don't know if there could be any
correlation.

** Description changed:
When I activate the Blur option (for elements I have also activated
transparency for) in CCSM no blur is added. I got all the latest updates
installed.
I would expect to gain some blur for the transparent
Gaussian blur still doesn't work. The other two blur options create
strange effects in window shadows where you can see the desktop somehow
vertically mirrored (see screenshot).

Hm, I wonder if your video driver doesn't play nicely. What video
card/driver are you running? I've tried on an nvidia+binary and intel
computer with no problem.
