Updateing and reinstalling of language-pack-de-base doesn't help.
It appears, that the indicator menu is only untranslated in a gnome-classic
session.
Within an unity session it all works.

I guess this is a temporary issue with the MO files, and should be
sorted out soon. But just in case it doesn't, I'm adding a bug task for
-translators too.
