DUDE you totally made me week. i put the imac27_122 in the alsa-base file but no luck. BUT i thought about updating the kernel to 3.5 and after a reboot. I also have this problem. After a bit of reading I found out about the imac27_122 model, but it doesn't work for me either. The best sound output I can get (from the comes from mbp55, but then the audio never plays from the headphones. Sorry, it's late here - a quick sentence clarification: The best sound output I can get (from the internal speaker) comes from the mbp55.
