Public bug reported:
Seems to be a race condition between ligthdm and nvidia driver. Sometimes boot is ok, Sometimes lightdm pop the "running in low graphic mode" session. none of the options works but workaround is to switch to terminal, and restart lightdm for the old style: $ sudo /etc/init.d/lightdm restart this restart solve the problem and login manager is running as usual. I've try nividia-current, nvidia-currents-updates, nouveau, but always random "low graphic mode" occurs. http://askubuntu.com/questions/128417/low-graphics-mode-error-on- startup-with-nvidia-graphics-12-04-lts/131493#131493 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: lightdm 1.2.1-0ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-24.37-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu7 Architecture: amd64 Date: Sun May 6 11:12:30 2012 EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Alpha amd64 (20111129.1) ProcEnviron: TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: lightdm UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: lightdm (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/995397 Title: lightdm nvidia run in lowgraphic mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/995397/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
