Public bug reported: While installing Quantal 12.10 on my iMac, overwriting Precise 12.04 on partition sda7, I got migration-assistant telling me that it couldn't unmount sda7. Using a terminal I saw that sda7 was mounted on /target, presumably used by the installer. I could have unmounted manually, but I decided to continue installing despite possibly losing existing files on 12.04.
