Hi,
I tried to retest that bug on Ubuntu 19.10
guake --version
Guake Terminal: 3.6.3
VTE: 0.58.2
VTE runtime: 0.58.2
Gtk: 3.24.12
Setting transparency works as expected.

Hi jonasplatte,
I have just tried to reproduce. The bug is gone with guake version4.3,
which is now actual in quantal. It is the first release of guake since
2010 as you can see here:
http://guake.org/downloads
It was fixed by the way, by the developers.
