Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gconf-editor
I was searching for 'bell' in gconf-editor (search in key-names and key-values
both
enabled).
I'm presented with the results. The first amog these is
/desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/bell_custom_file.
When I click on that entry,

** Description changed:
Binary package hint: xkeyboard-config
After using to a TTY and returning to X, some or all of the input
performed in the TTY gets sent to X.
- Cases:
+ Case 1:
1. Put your cursor over a non-maximized window.
2. Press Ctrl+Alt+F1 to go to TTY1.
3. Log-in.
I have a similar situation where input i type in TTY1 gets sent to X!
1)open any window with an input field, and the cursor ready to receive input
2)press ctrl-alt-f1
3)put username and password
4) return to X by alt-f7
5) back to TTY1, using ctrl-alt-f1
6)type anything and hit enter
7)ctrl-alt-f7
Can one of you attach you dmesg output after attempting to use the
camera. Just curious if any errors get logged. As Florian mentioned,
this might not be a bug with the kernel.

[CVE-2007-4476] cpio is affected by this CVE as tar.
The problem was an old .Xmodmap that I used in Hardy in my /home folder. I
deleted it, now everything works as expected. I wrote this .Xmodmap to use my
CapsLock as a third modifier in addition to Alt and Ctrl.
Looks like there have been many changes.
