repos. I still had to mount the shares with the nounix option. See

I'm too having the same problem. Now with Intrepid, had it also with
Hardy. Using AD 2003 + SFU.
At the moment I'm using Samba 3.2.4 packages from Debian Sid to overcome
the winbind crashing problem that is still present in Intrepids 3.2.3.
This problem exist with all three Samba versions

I can also confirm this bug in ubuntu 8.10. with kernel 2.6.27-7.
Just use something like pico, gedit or eclipse to modify a file. It
fails i guess using this save safe method of saving files, but I can
edit files directly in the shell without problems. Unfortunately it is a
fresh 8.10 install so
I looked at the wireshark trace in post #25 (by Alexey) and I see what
looks like a server bug in this old version of Samba (Samba 3.0.25).
Note that Samba 3.2.4 is current, and Samba 3.0.32 contains various
highly recommended fixes (Released in August Samba 3.0.32 is the latest
bug fix release
I can also confirm this bug.
One thing that might be of interest is the error message I get from KeypassX;
File could not be saved. The file could not be resized.
Can it be that there is nothing wrong with save itself but that the
sizes of the files cannot be changed?

For what it may be worth. I reinstalled Intrepid last night, keeping
home intact of course. This seems to have fixed the problems I was
having with my Leica and Panasonic cameras. Somehow the updates were
ineffective on my system until now. This might be a last resort for
Leica and Panasonic users

I fully aggree with Jeffrey. I have this problem only after torrents and
aMule have been running. Sometimes it freezes already after system
restart and immediatey starting of aMule.

the devices listing and the crossfading option, did you do other updates
than the rhythmbox one? the rhythmbox update is not likely to create the
issue there

nor with my usb slots. So when I put a cd in or put a usb stick in a usb
slot, nothing happens and no data can be transferred.

Another point maybe helpful for you on both 8.04 and 8.10:
When I depress PrintScreen, rather long to operate, the longest time
delay is when I want to give a name to this print screen, it takes
several seconds before the new name comes up to the screen

I know many people who don't want to upgrade to Intrepid until this very
annoying bug is resolved. Is somebody working on it?, Why it still appears
triage status?. We will have to wait until Jaunty (as ever)?.
Perhaps this is not the place to discuss the impotence of view this situation.

and an autorun.inf is present on this device, the autostart-question
dialogue appears.
problem: when the autorun.inf just contains an icon link for the drive
and no executable, the dialogue also appears.
