I solved it for my case by reducing the shutdown_lifetime to 1 seconds in
/etc/squid/squid.conf and modifying the
script in /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/squid to replace
restart squid
by
stop squid;sleep 1;start squid
Which defeat the restart intended behavior but doesn't need to wait
It worked for me. But it didn't remove theses directories:

P.S.: I just read the link posted by Michael.
I have also to mention that this boot problem not only appears by using
the -drive parameter, even the good old -hda got this bug.
I've also tried to correct some funny offsets in the NTFS header, but
all offsets were already set to the right values.
We patched the fix ourselves, the fix does indeed fix the problem. Now
if we can just get it as part of lucid, that would be grand.

it. With 0.12.5 all winxp and win2003 installations, existing and new,

So NVidia has now publiced a new driver pre-release 256.52.
That one does support new video ABI xserver xorg 8, which is required by the
xserver 1.9.

I would love to see something like 8.04/8.10 those were the best

This happens to me when I try to access file browsing over bluetooth
from my Android phone to my Ubuntu laptop running Maverick.
When I first try to connect I get a file listing but when I then try to
do something (browse to another directory, copy a file) I get the crash
and then I can no longer

Maybe I wasnt clear in my previous comment regarding the bug status change!
I dont disregard the opinion of reporter or others who have commented here. And
I did not say the wallpaper is perfect.
But *as a bug* , this bug has nothing more that subjective comments about the
wallpaper.

It's hilarious to me that the bug is being dismissed because ugly is a
subjective word. Clearly, a wallpaper is an artifact that is to be
judged and evaluated BOTH in terms of how functional it is and ALSO on
how BEAUTIFUL it is. Demanding that people give you engineering reasons
