I managed to finally complete the upgrade and believe I've found where

Part of the upgrade to Lucid Lynx included upgrading MySQL 5.0 to 5.1.
I was given the choice of keeping the existing my.cnf or using the
default. I wanted to keep my existing configuration.

I can't reproduce it because I can't put my system back the way it was
before the upgrade. I suspect that it had something to do with it being
unable to start backuppc because it was already running. Unless somebody
else gets it as well, I would advise not spending any time looking at it.

With USA layout, I was able to do Alt+PrtSc in Lucid, and also Alt+SysRq+K
But same USA layout, in Maverick I can *not* do a Alt+PrtSc , but can
Alt+SysRq+K.
If i change the shortcut from Keyboard Shortcuts, i can not even again set it
to Alt+Print , but i can set to every other combo.

Mingming, did you just create an empty file?
I did that, and it removed my warnings, but did not fix my program.
This is still an issue. the im-ibus.so should be getting included in
ia32-libs, as there now appears to be some dependency on it.
Also I just verified that this still exists running
also, i think it's possible to run g-s-d from terminal window, and hit
Ctrl+C when bug appears again mayb there's a debug flag for g-s-d
