wifi thetering not working.
I appear to be suffering from the same problem in Ubuntu 12.04 under
Unity 2d. Quitting Guake and re-loading seems to restore the correct
window size and behaviour but makes using F11 - Full Screen, difficult
to use.

I will comment on both, but neither issue is quite what I'm
experiencing.
I altered the opacity setting for the desktop cube, not the panel.
When the cube is opaque, then panel stops blinking and windows can full-screen.
