I have an Dell Latitude E5420 which was sold pre-installed with Ubuntu,
and this bug affects it too.
So far it seems that the effective remedy is removing Apport:
$ sudo apt-get remove apport apport-gtk apport-symptoms python-apport

Just to give an idea of the frequency of the GPU hangs, I pasted below a
part from my syslog. After the 3rd hang in a row, the system became
unresponsive and I had to do an emergency shut-down (Alt+SysRq, R, E, I,
S, U , B). Hope this will help with the troubleshooting.

after that, I have configured /etc/resolv.conf file as well…
r8169 test is not representative since BIOS is the system that may
disable ASPM as well. In my case PCI-X r8169 had link control disabled
on both 3.5 and 3.8 kernels.

Honestly, since I do not have access to the hardware, and it's extremely
unlikely that we'll get any help from the OEM on this, I'm just going to
mark this particular one as invalid, I doubt we'll get any more info at
all making debugging impossible.
