The solution you suggest may work only for Nvidia or may works only for
some models of Nvidia cards.

Ah, no worries - finally figured it out. Needed to apply the patch to
/var/lib/dpkg/info/slapd.postinst (rather than slapd.config - was
confused over package's half-configured state) and restore the old-
version backup prior to retrying "dpkg --configure -a". All good now!

my laptop's battery time decreased since I've installed 16.04. When I
used 14.04 it worked about 4h, now it's max 2h (still 4 on Win 10). I
tried powertop and tlp but it didn't help. My laptop is Dell 3543 with
Nvidia GF820 and i5 5200.
It also suffers from heavy disk i/o,
Deleted previous upgraded version of Xenial and reinstalled the Xenial
and connected by using Windows remote desktop, it is still the errors.

I just found a workaround for this issue, and it works in kubuntu 16.04.
The workaround steps are:
1. Edit /etc/xdg/menus/kf5-applications.menu
2. After add the following line:
applications-merged
3. Save the file, and you might need to reboot to see the updated menus.
