I set up a new virtual Ubuntu 17.04 machine and I get the same errors.
Ctrl-M and Shift-Ctrl-P both compile the file to PDF, but no preview. I
open the created PDF in evince and mouse hovering over music elements
will give the line and column location in the source code, so I can use

system, but pressing and holding Alt, PrintScreen and r, releasing all,
then all of Alt, PrintScreen and e, the the same for b, etc, seemed to

Playing around with this a bit, with 1GB of RAM in my vms this seems to
always happen. If I bump it to 2GB I don't see a problem any more on
amd64. I still see memory problems with i386, but I also see it with a
4.10 kernel, so not sure why we aren't seeing this fail on zesty i386.

I am having the same problem on ubuntu 16.04.2, kernel 4.4.0-75-generic,
and on a mint 18 system, kernel 4.4.0-21-generic. I have several cifs
mounts, and if any one server becomes unresponsive, then any process
attempting to access the mounts will hang indefinitely. If I unmount
using -l and wait

As far I can understand - it is time to drop GNOME 3. Modern Nautilus is
ugly, Evince is ugly, Gedit is ugly and so on.
I switched to MATE with its Caja and other good stuff.
