I forgot to mention that my /etc/resolv.conf uses OpenDNS IP addresses
for DNS lookups. I don't think the DNS settings actually matter though

Trying to install Ubuntu 16.04.03 LTS alongside Windows 10 on brand new
Dell Inspiron 15-5559, with a core i7 processor.
I partitioned the drive while in Windows, as advised. Then did the Try
Ubuntu to test hardware. All went well until the installer crashed after
the grub2
This needs to be fixed in Xenial as the package in xenial-proposed fixes
the problem. This problem should not exist but especially the current
LTS release. Fix it please or explain why you won't fix it.

Installed 17.04 using minimal server install CD, wanted to use
networkmanager to manage my interfaces, encountered this pesky bug. I
had removed any mention of my wired interface in
/etc/network/interfaces,
Still there in 4.9.16.
