CIFS errors on 4.4.0-98, but not on 4.4.0-97 with same
Since my 2017-11-06 upgrade of evince* from 3.18.2-1ubuntu4.1 to
3.18.2-1ubuntu4.2 ,it's doing the same to me. It prints graphics as
blank pages. That said, "Document viewer" is doing the same thing so
maybe someone broke an underlying library. Only GIMP manages to print
it, it seems.

Same problem here on "Intel NUC NUC7i7BNH (Ubuntu 17.10 ; 4.13.0-16-generic)".
I use some extensions ( Blyr, Removable Drive Menu, Sound Input & Output Device
Chooser, TeaTime ).
When i create a new account without extensions, problem is same, when screen is
lock or monitor goes to standby mode

I built a version of libmutter with the patch in the linked GNOME bug
applied, but then I get a different crash when turning off the monitor.
That one is 1724439, in meta_window_get_monitor(). Switching my session
from Wayland to Xorg fixes the problem. It might fix the original crash

Update manager updates a firefox on hold while in use, crashed it and
enforce a newer but incompatible version.
This is finitely not okay.

Ok, the log hadn't been rotated/lost, so I simply filtered out the ntp
events from syslog

I too am experiencing this issue. I would like to update the kernel to
4.13.6 but doing so makes me unable to get past the Ubuntu login screen.
I guess I'll have to change /etc/default/grub as suggested in #17.
