restarted.

I edited GRUB to boot with nomodeset - this didnt fix the login screen.
Them in a TTY I install nvidia-prime then ran
sudo prime-select intel
After a reboot graphical logon screen (lightdm slick-greeter) and logged
in successfully to the desktop.

I have a Thinkpad W520. In Optimus mode, lightdm presents a blank screen after
login. Virtual terminals work.
On the same laptop, gdm3 allows me to log in to ubuntu desktop.
In pure Nvidia mode, login works.
The bug report tool told me that log files will be attached.

I apologize for not mentioning a release type. It's Xubuntu 16.04 LTS.
For now, I have no access to my other computer with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS so
I can not verify this issue. Sorry.
Is it a problem, that incorrect permission - in this case - are in
Xubuntu and not in Ubuntu? Will it be

Hello,
sorry for my english, be helpfull please.
With kubuntu 18.04 beta 1, I try to assign shortcut to global shortcuts
KShutdown.
Exemple Ctrl+Alt+S for reboot. That doesn't works.
I have tried a lot of test, logout, shutdown, lockscreen with a large
combinaison
@dino99, it is not helpful to set to incomplete status without actually
asking the reporter or anybody affected a question. We're not here to
close the biggest number of tickets, we're here to fix bugs. I'm saying
this as co-maintainer of wondershaper in Debian, just in case you
wondered.
