I can confirm that recent builds of MariaDB 10.0 build successfully on
s390x on Launchpad, so the issue has been resolved.

install did not complete - it failed to install the bootloader; probably
due to being booted in EFI mode and installing to a disk that is missing
an ESP partition.

Observed the same issue on Ubuntu 16.04.4 with a Dell R440 and a RAID 5
consisting of 3 10k SAS disks. Using 16.04+UCA-Pike resolved the issue
just fine.

Yes it does have hybrid graphics. I also use an external GPU. This
occurs with or without the EGPU plugged in.
However, it may be that there was a problem in that specific version of
SDDM in that particular daily build. Somehow, someway installing the
Ubuntu Gnome desktop system and gdm2 fixed
I reproduced the issue with the clone attached.
