Ok. The best solution for this is posted here on ask ubuntu. The issue
is with the LTS update, it did not include the updated bcmwl file when
it switches the Kernel to the HWE version. This is the link to where I
found the solution I used and it solves my problem.
I chose option one.

Within the last couple of hours there was a batch of system updates
presented to me by Discover in KDE. I installed them and restarted like
it said to. Upon restart, there is no wifi. If I do `nmcli dev`, I no
longer see my wifi device listed at all. It used to be listed
Figured it out: running /usr/lib/notification-daemon/notification-daemon
solves the issue.

Posting to reporting I have exactly the same issue having recently
upgraded from 18.04.5 LTS to 20.04.1 LTS. Incidentally, I had previously
upgraded from 16.04 LTS too.
Any guidance how to remove the duplicate execution?
