60 days is an absurd timeout, and I would complain loudly about that...
... If it weren't for the fact that I came back to this bug report to
say that it seems to have very recently been solved. Had to have been in
version 93 or 94, probably 94.
At least, for my own purposes, it seems completely
tested bullseye armhf/aarch64 debootstrap on ubuntu 21.10, and both
works, but on 20.4 i can only get 1 working (aarch with ppa and armhf
with ubuntus package), the other crashes. very annoying.
any other backport possible (e.g. installing 21.10 package in 20.4)?

In Jammy when I have Chrome running and I log out of a Wayland session
and then log back in and restart Chrome it says it wasn't shut down
correctly.
I'm pretty sure in earlier releases Chrome was given the opportunity to

I just tested the patch by modifying an Ubuntu 18 USB install stick and
performing a clean install on another USB disk. The SSID and password
are now indeed stored with single quotes, and as expected, an otherwise

Thanks for the response.
After removing extensions, logout/login and than lock screen:
- I see info about ethernet, wifi, bluetooth,battery, nightlight- I can
operate sound level and suspend computer
After putting back extensions dir, not enabling custom extensions,
logout/login and than lock
I had forgotten I had submitted this bug report, and just encountered
this same issue when I upgraded from 21.04 to 21.10. I reported my
problem with this latest upgrade on the Ubuntu Mate Community forum. At
least I'm consistent: the post there reads almost exactly like my bug
report here. :)

I agree that "nameofprogram" is ambiguous. Would "PACKAGENAME" be
better? I.e. in your case:

This is a plain patch of changes performed on a git clone of
https://git.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/netcfg
The fix is simple: use Single-Quoted style when outputting SSID or
password, which means start and end with a single quote, and replace any
instance of ' with ''.
The code compiles, and
