When installing Inkscape (via Synaptic), it does not get associated with
*.svg files (its native format).
Can be fixed by manually running sudo update-desktop-database, or by
selecting Open with other application... from the context menu of an
when i restarted kmix the master volume control did affect the channel
that I selected as master. However, the volume control know on my
toshiba still controls the left most chanel.

I've got a Toshiba M110 and with previous Ubuntu releases the battery
was draining approx 30% overnight. I'm now running Intrepid (2.6.27-6)
and it appears now to be only 4-5% (this is however after starting the
laptop on only battery).

I am not sure if this is the same problem that I have. I have the same
card, it was working OK on feisty, i upgraded to hardy on the 26th of

Hi everyone. I have the same problem with my Hardy on a Presario F562LA,
it just freeze completely after a random amount of time. For me, I have
notice that happens mostly when browsing the web in firefox. I tryed
removing the Nvidia driver I got with ENVY, and it seems to be working

without any results, the computer hangs completly as usual. I had to go
back to the generic driver. I'm using kernel 2.6.24-19-generic. Have any

Hi, I seem to have this problem in my laptop, a Compaq Presario F562LA
in ubuntu Hardy 8.04. I'm new to linux, but so far I thought it was the

I have a Toshiba A205-4777 my speakers mute when I plug in the
headphones. If the headphones are already plugged in when the machine

Ok, the problem persists in Ubuntu 9.10, and is even worse. :(
Before I could right click network manager, and untick enable network,
wait a few seconds and re-tick it to get access back to my network. This
no longer works in 9.10 and I have to do a reboot.
I installed wicd and replaced network

I should probably also mention I am on a 64 bit distro. Now on 9.10, but
imaged my 9.04 install so can easily go back to it if necessary.

Same here in Hardy on the MSI Wind. If I leave the laptop for a few
minutes, the screen darkens, but when the laptop is reactivated, the
screen reverts to maximum brightness ignoring the settings it previously

What I forgot to say was that upgrading to OpenOffice v3.1 solved the
problem, however, the problem remains in Jaunty because there is no
automatic upgrade to OpenOffice v3.1 in Jaunty without user
intervention.

I don't you about you guys, but for me the problem was my machine name.
Seems like it can only be 15 characters long. I shorten mine and then I
was able to access the samba shares. There is a blog about it here

requested the password the first time when you typed sudo bash but it
not.
for example

the port grabbed as default behaviour in 0.9.9-4, shipped with Ubuntu
