since the last update and restart it appears to be fixed for me.

driver 177.80 installed through hardware drivers in ubuntu.
I dont see any rendering problems although compiz appears a little
That would most likely be when you updated to the Nvidia 177.80 driver.

I have just received the same error on Daily build 20081004 64 Bit.
Hardware is a T61 with Nvidia Quadra NVS 140M

The fix was not in 20081004 but it should be in 20081005 and is
definitely in 20081006. Therefore any of the ISO would have the correct
kernel.

I can confirm this problem with 177.80.
Nvidia Quadro 140m, 2.6.27-6 64 bit.
The system is fully updated at the moment.
I notice it primarily with firefox since I am not using awn or gimp at the
moment.

It seems to have gotten worse on my hardware. I didnt even notice it
until i switched to 177.80.
