Please see the attached file.
I had the error a total of 3 times while installing updates using synaptic,
other times the error did not repeat itself so I wasn't able to find
consistencies.

This bug affects me in a very severe manner. My system hangs every reboot
without exception, be it from gui or command line.
What can I attach to help?

I posted on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1002429
Appears to be the same bug, in any case, my system hangs every single time at
reboot without exception. Is there anything I can attach to help?
Workaround does not work for me, by the way.

I completely removed fglrx about a month ago. Smooth sailing ever since.

I switched to KDE (Unity had not been removed, just not in use) and have
not been suffering from the issue since.
So far this seems to have affected multiple users, multiple kernels and a
broad range of hardware. The only common denominators thus far, seem to be
Unity and either the nVidia driver
For me the problem seems to have been resolved after removing fglrx, so I'm
not sure the problem is the nvidia driver (as I have an ATI card).

Unfortunately the files you are requesting no longer exist, I've had a host
machine crash and lost the virtual machine.
I will, however, reinstall and attempt to reproduce the the problem.

Hi all,
For what it's worth, I think it's an issue with the Unity shutdown
mechanism, I've had this problem for months on multiple kernels, various
video drivers and have attempted all the suggested workarounds to no avail.
A few months ago I just installed KDE and have not seen the issue since.
Public bug reported:
Update from 'Software updater' fails when trying to install fglrx-core.
the update is successful from the command line and prompts for
replacement of configuration files. Maybe that is why it fails from the
updater.
