There have been a few fixes related to the skipping/postponing of breaks
in the latest version of workrave (1.8.5).
I've got a backport of the latest version of the workrave package from
Debian (1.8.5-6) in my personal package archive:

Please sync safe-rm 0.2-5 (universe) from Debian unstable (main).
The latest version of safe-rm fixes a very important bug which can lead
to the temporary loss of /bin/rm

It seems to work fine on Debian unstable (same version of the package).
Can you post the output of ls -l /var/games/dopewars.sco ?
Specifically, I want to know:
- whether the file exists
- whether the high score file is empty
- what the ownership and permissions are

This fix is quite important as debconf answers are not currently parsed
properly.
Thankfully, the fix is quite trivial:

I'll grab the upstream patch and push out a new version to Debian
unstable.
