I'm seeing this any time vmbuilder fails. If it fails more than a few
times, I run out of loopback devices and can't build anything more.

I've seen this inconsistently in both Dapper and Edgy when I ran
knetworkmanager as a normal user. It always worked when I ran it using kdesu.
When started as a normal user from the command line it shows this error:
Error requesting name, org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied: Connection
Don't know if this makes a difference, but I'm running fluxbox instead
of a full KDE environment.

I am now running Feisty, a fresh install on 3 systems, and I have not
had this problem. I only saw the problem on one system: a Dell D610
with the Intel 2915 ABG WLAN adapter.

Also seeing this with 3DM2, and using the IP address instead of the
hostname avoids the error. I hate hardcoding IP addresses, though,
since IP schemes change and it's easy to forget that there are hardcoded
addresses in places. That's what DNS is for, man!

OK, my bad. One standard thing I do on my machines is add the following line
near the top of /etc/profile:
PATH=~/bin:$PATH
And that puts everything I want in my path. This may also be
accomplished by putting this line in ~/.profile, depending on your
shell.

xfce_gdk_spawn_on_screen(). Why not grab the user's path, or even the
entire user environment, and pass it in here? Seems like this would

What I'm trying to achieve is this: use resolvconf instead of resolved
in Ubuntu 17.10. There is a bug when one tries to do so.
This is a fresh install on a laptop using the desktop installation DVD.
resolv.conf points to /run/resolvconf/resolv.conf and is managed by
resolvconf.
