Hi folks,
I was able to alleviate this issue to a large degree by the following
change:
edit /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/10-synaptics.conf
add the line:
Option JumpyCursorThreshold 90
to the area starting with:
Section InputClass
Identifier touchpad catchall
I still get a few

Hi Christopher,
I think I'm experiencing the same issue as this bug, and possibly the
same thing as https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-
server/+bug/1184451
I was able to reproduce it recently, so I filed a new bug report. It is

Hi Christopher,
I have tested this with the latest upstream kernel per your
instructions. I was able to reproduce the same error. Please let me know
if there's any other information I can provide or anything else I can do
to help.

I have uninstalled the extensions, rebooted, and was still able to

You received this bug notification because
I never isolated a way to reproduce this bug, and I haven't encountered
it again (even with keeping the extensions enabled). In fact generally
the gnome-shell crashes have largely stopped. I'm not sure at what point
that was, but for at least the past few days, things that would often

I ran another test of using the touchscreen and managed to make gnome-
shell crash. It looks like apport uploaded it this time, but I couldn't
figure out where it put it. I attached the *.uploaded file associated
with the reproduction. There's some other files in /var/crash, but I
guess they
Hi Brian,
I installed the proposed package and tried to test this. My results were
mixed. I used the touchscreen for a while without issues. But then xorg
crashed (and this report was a crash in gnome-shell). Apport refused to
submit the bug reports because apparently there were a few not-updated
I have mutter from proposed, and I don't see any newer version of gnome-
shell in the proposed repository.
I've attached the crash file as well. Also, I'm not really sure if the
crash I reproduced is about this bug or not. I've had other crashes that
were filed separately and have different stack
