I had many tabs open, I could not be very specific. I used xkill to kill
Firefox. However, if I try to restart firefox, I get the following
dialog:

Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window,
you must first close existing Firefox
ps -aef showed there were process /usr/lib/firefox-bin -a firefox
I killed it and after that I could restart FF. I wonder why xkill did not kill
Firefox, although it removed all Firefox's windows from desktop.

About gxine, it seems to have worse performance showing (at least some
MPEG) videos than Xfmedia or VLC so I wouldn't recommend gxine for
Xubuntu.

My desktop size is bigger than display size in the login screen of
Xubuntu, if I log out. And THIS happens, (at least) after I have

After installing suggested restricted driver Firmware for Broadcom 43xx
chipset family, LED of wireless function in my laptop (Acer Aspire
3623WXCi) is constantly lit. The respective button on side of the laptop
does not switch the function on/off, or actually I can say only

its directory added in ICC profile folder list of preferences. Trying to
reopen preferences dialog crashes Cinepaint. I removed the item in
~/.cinepaint/gimprc and it doesn not crash anymore. I can use the same

Brasero stopped burning and gave some error message dialog in both
versions. See line (brasero:12419): BraseroBurn-DEBUG: At burn.c:797:
the media is not supported in the first log. At least for the newer
version, I had to quit Brasero manually.

There is horizontal flicker in both monitors, as if there are densely
horizontal highlights. Additionally, there is one darker horizontal
line moving slowly from bottom to top in the main monitor, and one
moving from top to bottom in the secondary monitor. Secondary monitor
has worse flickering.
I can add the volume control in Gutsy after I remove keybindings for the
media keys in the keyboard settings.

- Power off did work by 6.06 LiveCD. With 8.04-beta it is different: After
- I remove the CD and press enter, (at least) a hard disk powers off, but

I am no longer using Xubuntu Gutsy in the computer. See Bug #212118,

I installed Hardy Beta in hard disk. Then I added line
apm power_off=1
in /etc/modules and rebooted. After this power-off works as expected. However,
I can not suspend. Should suspend work only with ACPI?

find Screens and Graphics in any menu. Well, I happen to know that I can
launch the utility from terminal by command gksu displayconfig-gtk.

Sense Hofstede, there is not System/Preferences/Shortcuts menu in
_Xubuntu_. This problem exists in 8.04-beta i386, too. In
Applications/Settings/Settings Manager/Keyboard there is xflock4 set for
Control-Alt-Delete, but the command does not work. Installing xlockmore
helps, but the application

I just tried it and I couldn't install the plugin from Firefox 3.0 in
Hardy. However, I could install flashplugin-nonfree from command line,
and after restarting Firefox 3.0, I could use it Flash. In Gutsy, where
Firefox 3 is a secondary browser, it can't play flash, even if
flashplugin-nonfree is
