So I tried this kernel and it dumped me to the (initramfs) prompt, and
complained about some sort of PKCS#7 error? Is this because the kernel

I'm not sure how or why, but during the upgrade, /dev/null got chmod'ed
to 644. Setting it back to 666 let it work correctly.
