proprietary NVidia drivers. For various reasons I have to run the dual
head as two X servers. My current X config runs fine with KDE3, when
running KDE4 however both heads desktops are drawn on top of one

i had the same error message as Orion but with a newer version of tor-
geoipdb. when update manager attempted to do the upgrade i was running
Tor including a relay node at the time so i used Vidalia to shut down
Tor. i then opened a terminal and did the sudo apt-get update then sudo

of --manage-gids in /etc/default/nfs-kernel-server of the Karmic

Daniel, connector dropdown has now Analog speakers selected. There are
also Analog Headphones and Analog Output options. Selecting
different option does not have any effect. I have sound only from
headphones, when plugged in, or no sound when unplugged. This is due to

David, the Startup program runs /usr/bin/pulseaudio so I understand
it as it starts pulseaudio demon.
Actually I do not know how to make sure I have no alsa drivers installed, but I
did not installed any by myself, so I am assuming I do not have any additional
other than Ubuntu provides.
So I
Slight improvement today.
After automatic alsa update (to 1.0.23-1ubuntu2.1) I rebooted and no change.
I tried to un-install alsa-hda-realtek-ignore-sku-dkms_1.0.23.diwic_all.deb and
rebooted and then microphone is working.
Whats not good is that is works only in sound recorder application, when

This bug still exists in Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty (64bit). If I try to open
certain ps documents that have graphics it just sits there forever
showing Loading. The same file opens fine under gv.
There is no evince --version for me to report!

I just installed Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid Linux on a DELL Dimension 8400
desktop. Ubuntu is installed on a separate drive from Windows. I cannot
