Same problem with Dell D800 and Logitech wired mouse. However, Option
CorePointer solved this.

Public bug reported:
Send a mail with a S/MIME certificate, then open Sent folder, edit the
message with Edit as a new message... and open the Security menu. PGP
and S/MIME are now checked, causing an error message on attempt to send
if you don't have a PGP signature.

Also affects 14.04.2 LTS here.
Installed mainline kernel v4.1-rc1-vivid and it boots fine (although I cannot
say if the info is relevant since I'm running trusty).
