The same thing happened to me and all the video players started showing
negative colors. The fix was to change the hue value in the setting in
Totem. I have a an nVidia GeForce 8400M GS graphics card and use the
proprietary driver that comes with Ubuntu 8.04.

I don't really understand from the file what lines are for what monitor, but my
laptop screen (LVDS1) has a resolution of 1280x800 when I don't use my external
(VGA1) monitor. When I plug in my VGA monitor Kubuntu picks a resolution of

I had the same problem as permafrost91. The PCM slider wasn't visible in
KMixer, I had to go into Settings->Configure Channels..., select Speaker
and click OK to make it show.

When resuming from suspend to RAM, compositing in KWin stops working; I

frameworkintegration_5.9.0+git20150418.1058+15.04-0ubuntu0_amd64.deb It
works with kmenuedit v5.2.2 and also git kmenuedit v5.3.90

the same result with clear new installation of Kubuntu alternate CD beta 2.
Blue screen with:
Loading Linux 3.0.0-11
Inital Loading ramdisk
Now Kubuntu stoped. Must pressing enter and follow normal login screen.
