Nothing major, it's just that the little LEDs on my keyboard never light
up so I have no idea whether caps lock or anything is on before I start
typing. The machine is 2 or 3 years old and fully up-to-date Intrepid
Ubuntu. However, they didn't work in Gutsy or Hardy either.

and everything works apart from the mouse. I see the pointer in the
middle of the screen, it changes from the busy circle into a pointer,

The system in question is 9.04a4 running on VirtualBox from the repos on an
Intrepid host.
The installation completed and told me to restart, so I did. Everything works
as far as a usplash screen, I see a load of services starting then a login to
tty1, which flashes
There is a similar issue with opening music files from nautilus in
rhythmbox. If I double-click an mp3 file, my library starts playing.
This is not what a user (or I) want.

Binary package hint: balder2d
At the moment, Balder2D stores its config in ~/balder2d and
~/config.xml. It should store them in (traditionally) a .balder2d
subdirectory or .config/balder2d. It is a pain having a folder that
contains config not hidden, and goes against naming

In Unity, sometimes the Apps lens disappears, and so do the search
results for applications in the main Dash search. I then have to use
either a terminal or alt-f2 to launch new apps.

as shown in the screenshot attached. The text reads 'Could not open the
containing folder' on the first line and 'Failed to execute child
process nautilus (Permission denied)'. The containing folder is
