The situation becomes critical: on my Aspire One I have xubuntu 8.04.03 LTS
with the following kernels:
1) 2.6.24-24-generic
2) 2.6.24-23-generic
3) 2.6.24-19-generic
ONLY the last one doesn't crash. I would like to have a patch before the new
kernel version update. The work-around

I've got same problem. When I start VLC (from dash, from console, from
video file, from sound indicator etc.) everything looks OK (OK means
that I've got only global menu bar), but... when I switch to full screen
and than return I've got two menu bars (global and local). It drives me
mad.

scroll using the Touchpad (edge scroll), not when I use a mousewheel.

Running 2.6.27-7-generic kernel on intrepid beta 32-bit, Dell M1330,
Nvidia 8400M 177.80 driver. Same problem. Dell fan control might fix it.
Or it might be that the driver cant get info from bios, therefore puts
it on max, could be one module too much/too little.

Well i have the same problem with my nvidia card (GeForce4 MX440) using
restricted drivers and default in gutsy compiz-fusion. When I want to switch
user, the screen goes to black and nothing happend. It seems that every thing
is working in background - mpd is playing music. The only choice is

I can confirm that the 2.6.24-16-generic (hardy) Linux kernel running
under Gutsy had no such issues. However, appeared only when I

but while trying to 'trace' the bug with dmesg (assuming it's I/O related) I
couldn't find anything. WHY? Because my Ubuntu Hardy stopped freezing! My
theory is that this command works
Ignore echo 1 /proc/sys/vm/block_dump, this only delayed the freeze.

Sorry for posting so many times in a row.
But this time I have solved the freezes, in my case at least. What I did
was to create a redistributable bootable backup dvd with remastersys
in case I had to reinstall. Since I gutted the Hardy installation from
trying to fix the bug I used the backup

Just open youre terminal and type
$picasa [link]
The link you can find when you open youre album in firefox and go to
right click and go to view source then simply hit ctrl + f to search for
picasa:// then copy it (ctrl + c) and paste as [link] as
double click on picasa)
Now you can simply download album from firefox without any hacks
Tested using Firefox 3.0.1 and Picasa 2.7.0 (Build 37.3615,0) Ubuntu

I have the same problem (bionic):
- aptitude is showing 2 uninstalled updates, libmysqlclient-dev and
libmysqlclient20
- I can't update them, because they require libssl-dev
- if I decide to install libssl-dev, I need to uninstall libssl1.0-dev
- if I do that, I would need to remove nodejs-dev
I have the same problem:
