I am using a MIDI keyboard with MuseScore 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 15.04 just fine, but I can't speak for 14.04. Try this... in Edit -> Preferences: - Under "Note Input" tick the "Enable MIDI Input" checkbox. - Under "I/O" select "ALSA audio". Now restart MuseScore and then plug in the keyboard and
