I am using a MIDI keyboard with MuseScore 2.0.0 on Ubuntu 15.04 just
fine, but I can't speak for 14.04.
Try this...
in Edit -> Preferences:
- Under "Note Input" tick the "Enable MIDI Input" checkbox.
- Under "I/O" select "ALSA audio".
Now restart MuseScore and then plug in the keyboard and

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mscore-ubuntu/mscore-stable
And then to install MuseScore:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install musescore

updated (except for security updates) to prevent compatibility issues
between different versions of shared libraries, etc. However, MuseScore
2.0.2 is now available from the PPA https://launchpad.net/~mscore-

Actually, I fixed it ;)
Tracking bugs by revision number works very well for upstream, and if
that interferes with Debian packaging then they would see that as
Debian's problem. In any case, I was given commit access to the Debian
repository recently, and made the fix in such a way that
