I believe this is a dupe of 175909 - my gksudo workaround has persisted
across reboots, see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-
systemsettings/+bug/175909 for details.

@heu: Perhaps you have a different variant of this problem. The default
Ubuntu/Kubuntu setup is that your hostname has an entry for 127.0.1.1 in
the /etc/hosts file, but it would be good if those who still have this
problem can test this.
Could you try reverting your hosts file to original
I would like to see this fixed as well... Workarounds:
- maybe apt-proxy would be a workaround here for Scott and others:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AptProxy - it is similar to apt-cacher,
includes its own cache, and doesn't require changes the the client sources.list.
- also, the very
I'm having the same problem on Gutsy, and also had it on Feisty with the
same hardware - system boots OK, but a freeze happens on the on-board
Ethernet, some USB and all IDE drives. This takes a day or so after I
connect an internal USB flash card reader, and hasn't happened for over
10 days
Absolutely the same problem as the OP. My external I-O data firewire
drive (120GB) isn't working with 6.06 but worked previously. I get the
same messages on boot as the OP, and additionally Ubuntu now takes about
30-40 seconds longer to boot because of all the firewire related errors.

I'm having the same problem with mythfrontend, the backend is on another
computer.
I'm using feisty 32-bit instead of 64-bit. This was installed with the
alternative install cd (final). I also have 2 nvidia cards instead of an
ATI card but I am also using xinerama. I'm using mythfrontend version
a perfect (or permanent) solution but I didn't have a
chance to see what was changed from the edgy version of libXrandr to the
one in feisty. It seems like it should work with ati video cards as
well.
At least I can use it for now. I hope this helps.
