I have managed to solve the fonts problem (the OpenOffice interface - all the
fonts - was messed up with the Compiz enabled/96.43.09 nVidia driver) by
choosing Subpixel (LCDs) in the Smoothing section from System - Preferences
- Appearance - Fonts - Details... .

At this time I am no longer running Xubuntu. I will say I ran into this
problem on all editions of ubuntu from this time period. When I
installed later versions of Ubuntu it was less common, but still
happened. Sadly, I do not know what the current state of this bug is.

with which type of images are you having problems?
Probably all types. In any case JPEG and PNG.
I just noted I can't find _any_ preview - for videos, pdf etc as before...

Just after sending the comment I realized a lot of things are missing in
that script. It does dock, but then disconnect doesn't work. I think
this script fixes it:

I have the same problem. For those who don't want to recompile gnome-ppp
this will do the trick: rename wvdial to wvdial.bin and put the
following script in place of wvdial:

On Xubuntu Hardy, with dbus-x11 installed, and newest f-spot update, I
still got the problem. However, after creating the dbus15 file as

After installing Gutsy on a PC with an Asus M2N-E SLI motherborad sound from
obnboard c-media chip is too low. Volume is not muted and is set to high.
Tried installing an AudigyLS sound card but did not help, so I went back

I have a problem with my system, I was using Ubuntu 9.04 and it was working

Stupid me for new feeds... the one I picked did not get updated since my
upgrade to 9.10.
The issue is then only for feeds set before the upgrade to 9.10, some of them
are:
- http://ajaxian.com/index.xml
- http://feeds2.feedburner.com/AndroidPhoneFans
- http://feeds.feedburner.com/nettuts
...
Some more info on this issue:
The feeds get loaded when they are created but never gets updated after
that (even when manually clicking on Send/Receive). You can check with
any of the above feeds or with this one

frequently.

I installed linux-backports-modules-alsa-karmic and rebooted. Once I was
back up my wired network vanished. I ran lspci and it only showed the
wireless adapter. I didn't know how to get it working again, so I had to
reinstall Karmic.
I'm afraid of trying it again. I'm without wireless.

After re-installing Karmic I install the back-ports module. I can
confirm what Jero is experiencing, I too can record with gnome recorder
but in pulse no change. In skype it does not work cause i think it goes
through pulse.
