Information bar hard to see when focus is lost

I have a dual system of Ubuntu and Windows 7 and encountered the same
problem after in place upgrade from 16.04 to 16.10. I tried boot-repair
before but it didn't work. Just a moment ago I tried this command and it
worked:
sudo grub-install /dev/sda

I just found that the workaround I posted won't work after suspend. It
will work again after restart.

I experienced a similar situation with a fresh installation of Ubuntu
Gnome on Dell XPS 15. I didn't install virtual box.
Details about my computer:
Processor: Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz
Graphics: GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2
Driver: Nvidia binary driver version 384.90; Processor
I had a similar problem while upgrading from Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 to 17.10
on Dell XPS 15(with GTX 1050 graphics card). The kernel version that I
was trying to install was 4.13.0-25.
I successfully solved the problem by killing dpkg, switching to text-
only console(Ctrl+Alt+F6), and running `sudo
This problem was solved after updating to Ubuntu 17.10, but I don't know
why(maybe the bug was fixed in a new release in some packages).

Same issue after upgrading from Ubuntu Gnone 17.04 to Ubuntu 17.10.
First I purged gnome-screensaver, but it didn't work.
Then I went to Setting -> Privacy -> Screen Lock -> Automatic Screen
Lock and turned it off. Now the original Gnome lock screen went away and
only one lock screen is left.
The problem was solved for me when I find the process's pid with `screen
-R` and then resume with `screen -r `.

Similar error (Required key not available) while trying to refresh
gnome-system-monitor. I also encrypt my home directory with fscrypt
using login protector.
