On Ubuntu Gnome 14.10 (fresh install),
system preferences - network - [+] - VPN
has only one choice here: Import from file but no PPTP connection.
The network-manager-pptp-gnome is well installed.
But no interface for creation.
Then, I cannot create any PPTP VPN

I confirm the bug on Ubuntu 18.04 + Gnome-Shell
It appears only after a locked screen, not at startup.
When I type my password to unlock, the first time always fails.
The second it OK.
If I type any character, then delete all with backspace and retype the
password, it is OK at the first time.
I confirmed this issue.
The size /var/log/syslog is now 18 Go, filled with :
