never have imagined it was the proxy settings causing it.

So it could be possible to identify the patch/commit on 4.8 that fixes the
bug ?
If it is, maybe a fixed kernel for 16.04 LTS could be released in main
repository ?
This should be a proper solution than to switch on kernel-ppa which will
never be upgraded by APT (too new) and leaves the user
to launch PDFSam in ubuntu

Maybe this the origin af the problem, are maybe only a consequence.

If the missing file causes severe bugs, you can download a version of rgb.txt
file here : http://cvsweb.xfree86.org/cvsweb/xc/programs/rgb/rgb.txt
the direct link to the latest version is this one :
I've got the same message on dmesg.
My system can boot but it freezes/hangs frequently for many minutes before
coming back alive.
The message dosn't appear on the screen with the latest up to date Karmic
x86_64 (maybe due to usplash).
I try the latest kernel 2.6.32.2 from here :
After more search on launchpad, I've found many other bug reports that
have been marked as duplicate of Bug #413419 because the message appear
during the boot process.
Bug #413419 has been marked as fix released because the message
doesn't appear anymore on the screen during the boot process from
A comment on the sourceforge project site tells that it works well with T4210.
Have you tryed to recompile ? I've got the same issue after a kernel upgrade.

Hello,
I've got the same bug as Piotr.
When I start the PC after a long time power off, I've got no sound in Ubuntu
Karmic.
If I reboot the PC, the sound is back.
I compared the dmesg output, and when I've got any sound, I see the following
message :
[6.954776] Writing to ADC failed!
