Problem with kernel 2.6.24-19 Hardy Xubuntu. Caps Lock ScrLk flash
system locks up. Only Alt + SysRq + R-E-I-S-U-B to restart system
works. Happens quite often, though more often after hibernation/sleep.
My hardware is a IBM T21 laptop type 2647-8BG.

I added the PPA via terminal with:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/ppa
but when checking for new software via sudo apt-get update or using
update manager, nothing is downloaded.

I only noticed no pidgin sounds, but they are working again now this
minute. I did a clean install of Lucid. I installed ubuntu-audio-
dev/ppa in software sources as was having trouble with no sound after
hibernate/sleep distorted pidgin notifications. It updates quite
often.

Actually, although it goes through the motions under XFCE DE, the actual
volume level does not rise fall. The GUI will show volume
increasing/decreasing but volume can only be controlled from system tray
left click.
So, basically, volume hot keys do not work under XFCE or Xubuntu
environment.
When it does fail to connect, intermittently, I get a Failed to
retrieve your personal information from the server. Error
