Regarding hardy's LTS status it would be great if users had an option
not to stick with its vulnerable version unable to work with newer pdfs
for the next years.

I run Ubuntu Hardy 8.04.1 with a Radeon 9200 card. I had this problem (funky

John Vivirito: I only asked for backporting the single most prominent
mozilla app, firefox, so not backporting *most* mozilla apps should not
exclude this one; and agreed: it is not a good idea to backport an
unstable release, but IMHO it *is* a good idea to backport the long
awaited *stable* 3.5
btw: a backport to hardy lts called firefox-3.5 exists already for the
unstable firefox 3.5.1 development branch (shiretoko) on launchpad ppa
by the ubuntu mozilla daily team; but the stable 3.5 release is only
available for jaunty and karmic ...

As we have a stable firefox 3.5 in the meanwhile, and the backporters
team refused to backport it to hardy (see bug #395167), I removed the

mozilla.com (and updated it since to 3.5.2). With this package, not the

Thank you for the quick response. Unfortunately your backport did not
work on my Asus EeePC 1000H with RaLink RT2860, same symptom as with

thank you for the hint, the firefox-stable builds from mozillateam on

hey Ubuntu (thunderbird/ubuntu), you're dreaming? Mozilla and Novell

This bug has a lot of traffic as it imports them from
mozilla/gentoo/opensuse, but the ubuntu people did still not get the

I can confirm that it works now for Thunderbird 24.0 on Ubuntu (they
still did not react to the launchpad bug 1244619) - asking Lightning 2.6
