i can confirm this bug.. 11.04 is unusable because of it. i need to boot
with 2.6.35-30 (the kernel from 10.10) as no other kernel i've tried is
able to get past the point after i enter my login info,and press enter.
shortly after the background changes (as part of the login process) but
before
my machine is an acer aspire one 522-bz623

the workaround i was using before was using an older kernel (2.6.35-30
from ubuntu 10.10) but it wasnt completely stable

sorry, i pressed post comment by mistake.
also, the previous workaround no longer works, and now i must do:
alt + ctrl + sysrq
alt + ctrl + k
alt + ctrl + i
in that order to thaw my machine.

Making djalfie's file an actual patch. The fix worked for my FC17, not
sure if the path to invest/applet.py is the same, for me it is:
/usr/lib/python2.7/site-packages/invest/applet.py
Just be aware of that when patching.
