I get this problem too and its DAMN annoying!! I keep missing important
messages from my boss at work because of this! I'm not sure how
reproduce it but I think its whenever I lose internet connectivity (due
to suspend/resume etc) and it supposedly reconnects. People see my

usually triggered when switching from one virtual desktop to another.
It sometimes happens when simply moving a window and freezes during the
wobbly windows animation. Only way out is to do a unity --replace .
