I reproduced the problem three times in one night, and the second time I
returned memory use back to normal by closing the system monitor rather than

What difference? Could you clarify your question? I thought I explained
in my observances in my last comment. The system was behaving as I would
expect when ram was full and swap was heavily taxed, and top agreed with
me. I took a peek at the log and it appears that no libraries have been
tooled
The memory use was about 2 gigs off.

Although the undirect fullscreen windows fix worked for me, I still
believe that my bug has been marked as a duplicate of this one in error.
The author of this bug states that garbage appears on the screen when a
popup appears. In my case I can confirm that it is always the desktop
background.
Weird... It only affects swiftfox but not firefox... I updated both and tried
both.
Swiftfox 3.5 beta 4.

I have upgraded and am using Oneiric now.
The issues with the unity overlay's transparency have been resolved,
however there are still lines at the top of the screen when the desktop
is focused. When an app is running full screen, there are no issues.

Today I upgraded Firefox to 3.6.12 and the kernel to 2.6.35-23.36. The
problem persists. The system simply won't run on this kernel. I have to
boot the old 2.6.32.25 to be able to even get this message to you.
As before, the system hangs -- no keyboard, no mouse, no interactivity

No need to panic! mplayer still works. Nonetheless, I have considerably

Works for all games that do not work properly because of keyup events.

I have already used this for some flash games that gave me trouble in
the past.

usb flash drive live medium. The bugs do seem similar with cpu 100% even
after gparted is closed. I did get ubuntu updates on the usb persistence
which seemed to clear up the gparted not functioning properly.

gparted automatically starts scanning all devices slowly and never
completing the task

The screenshot attached to this email are reference to one machine for
comparison purposes.
I have ps alx | grep blkid for Xubuntu and Ubuntu the last one is Lubuntu
form live USB from earlier. Xubuntu from the live USB takes 30 seconds to
finish but when installed to hdd works normally. There is
Actual floppy when disabled in BIOS gparted does not get hung.
Floppy disabled in BIOS no problem with bug# 983681 or bug# 1029149.
This machine is currently on the injured and disabled list since both HDD
failed today.
