Hmm, with today's updates, I do not get this error. Software Center 5.3.3.1. Rachel, it seems you rebooted with the update and still get the error? i have software-center 5.3.3.1 and apt-xapian-index 0.44ubuntu5 (ie: quantal system made up to date just now) and just got this error again after login after reboot.
